Chicago Fire Finally Resolves a Decade-Old Molly’s Bar Mystery — And Fans Couldn’t Be Happier

It’s the reveal fans have waited over a decade for — and it happened without warning in the middle of a hectic Firehouse 51 shift! After 13 seasonsChicago Fire just cleared up one of the show’s most persistent (and oddly hilarious) mysteries about Molly’s Pub — and viewers couldn’t be more thrilled.

The iconic bar, home to countless heart-to-hearts, breakups, and celebrations, has always left fans wondering: How does it stay open when its owners are always on shift?

Well, Season 13, Episode 14 finally answered that question — and in true One Chicago fashion, it happened in the middle of chaos.

WHO REALLY RUNS MOLLY’S WHEN THE CREW’S AWAY?

Since Chicago Fire began, Molly’s has served as Firehouse 51’s emotional home base. But viewers have often joked about how Herrmann and Kidd seem to be the only ones behind the bar — even when they’re out saving lives or dealing with emergencies.

But in “Bar Time”, that question is finally answered. When Ambo 61 is called to an incident at Molly’s, we actually see other staff working there. That’s right — Molly’s has employees!

“It’s oddly satisfying to finally see background staff at Molly’s,” said one fan on Twitter.
“Like, okay, this place actually functions like a real bar now!”

And let’s be honest — it was a little strange seeing strangers behind the counter of Firehouse 51’s sacred hangout, but it was also incredibly overdue.

 SURPRISE GUEST: JACK DAMON RETURNS!

Of course, what’s a Chicago Fire bar scene without drama? The surprise 911 call from Molly’s comes from none other than Jack Damon — Benny Severide’s secret son and Kelly’s brother — now stationed at a different firehouse.

Seeing Damon again added another layer to the scene, especially after his sudden departure following a heated fallout with Chief Pascal. With Bradway exiting the show, this might be one of his last appearances — but what a way to go out!

HERRMANN’S FUTURE: BAR OWNER OR FIREHOUSE CHIEF?

With Christopher Herrmann now serving as a temporary stand-in for Pascal, his struggle balancing leadership and personal passion is becoming more apparent. And fans are wondering: Will Herrmann retire soon and commit full-time to Molly’s?

If he does, the bar could evolve into a hub for retired firefighters, crossover cameos, and maybe even new storylines. Molly’s isn’t just a bar — it’s a legacy. And for Herrmann, it could be the next chapter.

ONE CHICAGO NEEDS MORE MOLLY’S MOMENTS — ACROSS SHOWS!

Back in the early days of the franchise, Chicago PD and Chicago Med characters would frequently stop by Molly’s for a drink, a vent, or even a date night. But lately? It’s been strictly a 51 zone.

With Season 13 proving that the bar can thrive without its owners constantly present, it’s time to bring back that crossover magic. Why shouldn’t we see Burgess chatting with Violet, or Ethan Choi dropping in for a late-night beer?

“The One Chicago universe needs that connective tissue again,” one Redditor posted.
“Molly’s is the perfect neutral ground.”

And we agree. Even if crossovers can’t happen every week, casual run-ins at Molly’s could reignite the spark across all three shows.

CHEERS TO ANSWERS (AND NEW BEGINNINGS)

Molly’s has always been more than just a set — it’s a symbol of Firehouse 51’s bond. With new revelations, new faces, and the hint of more One Chicago crossovers, this bar might be more important than ever heading into Season 14.

So pour a pint, raise your glass, and get ready — because if this episode proved anything, it’s that Molly’s still has plenty of secrets to pour.
