Wednesday star’s forgotten link to Virgin River as Netflix fans urged to ‘go binge’

Virgin River fans have been left surprised after one of the stars of the Netflix drama posted about their link to one of the actors from Wednesday after the show landed and left fans theorising frantically but also one complaint.

Ben Hollingsworth, better known as Brady in Virgin River, paid sweet tribute to co-star Luis Guzmán after the pair starred together in a TV show years before they both landed roles in their respective Netflix shows.

Taking to Instagram, the Virgin River favourite shared a clip from their show and captioned it: “Humility, kindness, patience, charity… you know, the big ones. Newcomer @loueyfromthehood everyone!

“On @codeblack_cbs I learned a lot watching @mgh_8, Luis, @roblowe + a plethora of ridiculously talented actors. Biggest lesson? Listening. Not just hearing lines, but really being present—letting it change you.

“Sounds simple, but it’s one of the hardest things to nail as an actor. Still working on it – ask my wife. Helps when you’re opposite a legend though.”

Hollingsworth added: “Luis’ little show “Wednesday” just dropped S2 on @Netflix—go binge!”

Guzmán and Hollingsworth previously starred together in the CBS medical drama Code Black, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018.

The programme follows the medical staff at an understaffed emergency hospital room in Los Angeles, and was based on a 2013 documentary.

Fans rushed to post under Hollingsworth’s post, with some asking about the TV show.

Others praised the show as one said: “I loved code black so much. I wish they didn’t cancel it! It really was so so good and the cast was.”

A second commented: “I saw Code Black and I like it. Cool show and stories.”

A third added: “Looking forward to watching. Will keep me occupied until Virgin River, Christmas Ring, and it looks SOOOO good!”

The clip in question saw Hollingsworth’s junior doctor character Dr. Mario Savetti getting a pep talk from Guzmán’s senior nurse Jesse Salander after angry altercation involving a patient.

The heartwarming scene saw Jesse giving Mario advice about how to handle himself in the ER room in light of his troubled upbringing.

Along with Guzmán and Hollingsworth, the CBS hospital series boasted an impressive cast including renowned American thespian Marcia Gay Harden, Hollywood A-lister Rob Lowe, Raza Jaffrey from Homeland, and NYPD Blue star Bonnie Somerville.

Further casting included William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Boris Kodjoe, Jillian Murray, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Tyra, Emily Alyn Lind, and Moon Bloodgood.

Hollingsworth’s clip comes as Wednesday season two stormed back to the top of the Netflix chart, with around 50 million people watching the show on its first four days of release, as per Deadline.

This was the second-highest weekly total ever for a Netflix series, putting it just behind Wednesday season one.

Season two of Wednesday has been split into two parts, with the second half set to land next month and conclude the twisty tale involving the Willow Hill Asylum and the mysterious Aunt Ophelia.

The new episodes have also seen more from the Addams family, with Guzmán reprising his role as Gomez Addams and starring opposite Jenna Ortega as the lead, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

The new season also features guest performances from Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, Steven Buscemi, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Frances O’Connor, Joanna Lumley, and Heather Matarazzo.
