Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med Teaser Includes a Pregnancy Reveal and a ‘Real Brady Bunch Vibe’ with New Characters

One Chicago Wednesdays return to NBC on Oct. 1

The characters of Chicago FireChicago P.D. and Chicago Med will all face unprecedented scenarios when the hit shows return to One Chicago Wednesdays on NBC — but, as Chief Dom Pascal says in the exclusive trailer above, “This is the time when the best show what they’re made of.”

In addition to the Pascal pep talk, the clip offers a first look at two new characters: officer Eva Imani (Arienne Mandi) on P.D. and firefighter Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente) on Fire.

But the most jaw-dropping reveal has to be Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) learning that his ex, Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram), is pregnant.

In the season 10 finale of Chicago Med, Asher had just learned she was expecting, and though the paternity of the child was unclear, Ripley seemed to be the most likely candidate. But in a final, cliffhanger moment, Asher showed up at Dr. Dean Archer’s (Steven Weber) home and said, “We need to talk.”

While Asher and Archer have never been together romantically — that’s been shown, anyway! — fans have been hoping they would pair up for several seasons now. And many have read into that final scene as confirmation that there may be something more between them.

In the season 11 footage from the trailer, Ripley learns Asher is expecting: “You’re pregnant? How could you not tell me?!” he says as they casually wait for an elevator together.

Baby fever is also on its way to Chicago Fire.

In the season 13 finale, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) showed her husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), a positive pregnancy test. He responded by showering her in kisses.

But elsewhere in that episode, Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) revealed to Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) that he was moving to Denver, marking the actor’s departure from the series. In the new clip, Vasquez is on duty.

After Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) wraps up that pep talk — “If I’ve learned one thing: You are the best. So let’s show this city how it’s done!” — Vasquez is driving the rig when he and Kidd see a truck in flames. “Do not get too close,” she warns him.

He also looks rattled as he approaches Violet, who is trying to save a young boy.

Footage from Chicago P.D. shows Imani getting to know the team formerly known as the Intelligence unit.

“You all work real well together,” she says. “A real Brady Bunch vibe.”

Of course, the team couldn’t be less Brady Bunch-level cohesive after the season 12 finale saw Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) entire unit shut down and several of his team members stripped of their badges while others were reassigned to patrol duty.

“There are consequences to my team being benched: lives lost,” Voight says.
