Fans of Virgin River are still awaiting a premiere date for its seventh season, for which filming reportedly wrapped in June. Not long after wrapping production, the beloved series scored another renewal with no further details unveiled, which was no surprise considering that Season 7 has not yet been released. With nothing to do but wait until a date is announced, fans can check out a similarly cozy series, which Netflix has made easily accessible for U.S. subscribers.
That show is A Thousand Tomorrows, an adaptation of Karen Kingsbury‘s romance novel of the same name, which was recently added to the Netflix library on September 1, 2025, in the U.S. And in just a few days, it has garnered substantial attention, quickly jumping into the top 10 TV shows on the streaming service on September 3, 2025, where it sat at the number 10 spot. The following day, in an unexpected development, it rose to number 6, and then moved to the fifth position on September 5, 2025, becoming part of the top 5 on Netflix.
Released in February 2023, A Thousand Tomorrows is described as a miniseries and was adapted for Pure Flix. It follows a bull rider named Cody Gunner (Colin Ford) and his relationship with a horsewoman named Ali Daniels (Rose Reid), who struggles with health issues and whom he loves more than life. The series was directed by Cassidy Lunnen and, in addition to Ford and Reid, it stars Anne Leighton, Kate Easton, Cole Sibus, K.C. Clyde, James Healy Jr., James Austin Kerr, C.K. Bolado, Triana Browne, and Alexandra Harris.
Is ‘A Thousand Tomorrows’ Really Similar to ‘Virgin River’?
Like Virgin River, which is an adaptation of Robyn Carr’s novels of the same name, 2023’s A Thousand Tomorrows is also inspired by a book: the first installment in Kingsbury’s Cody Gunner series. Additionally, both shows are cozy dramas that blend romance and community spirit. While A Thousand Tomorrows is more focused on faith, the two productions still incorporate elements of belief and finding strength in the face of adversity. And when it comes to the characters, the romance dramas feature relatable ones navigating personal struggles, overcoming past traumas, and finding healing within the supportive bonds of a small town.
