Chicago Fire Season 13 Update Confirms Major Stella & Severide Baby Story Developments

Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) may have a baby soon in Chicago Fire. Despite the ever-present rumors that Kinney will be leaving the show, the series has been working diligently to develop Stella and Severide’s relationship. The pair were recently married in season 10, episode 22, “The Magnificent City of Chicago”, and season 12 has seen them discussing potentially starting a family. While Stella has no interest in pregnancy, she did raise the idea of adopting a baby together.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Andrea Newman was prompted to speak out about the couple’s relationship. She officially confirmed that “they’ll finally get the call” about their baby in the coming episodes. While viewers will have to wait to learn more, Newman promises that it is coming, and it will be a major development for their relationship. Check out Newman’s quote below:

[The couple is] on quite the journey this season trying to start their family… In an upcoming episode, they’ll finally get the call they’ve been waiting for. What happens then, viewers have to tune in to find out!

What Severide And Stella’s Baby Means For Chicago Fire

They May Need To Step Away From Firehouse 51

Parenting is hardly a simple prospect, and two firefighters could very well struggle to balance their obligations to the Firehouse with their need to raise their child. Adoption will help to ensure that Stella can remain in the field without the risks associated with pregnancy, but one of the parents will generally always need to be in the baby’s vicinity to ensure that they are safe. If so, Chicago Fire‘s Firehouse 51 cast may very well be losing consistency from two major cast members, which will likely spark some added drama.

If the pair does want to remain firmly affixed to Firehouse 51 with any consistency, then they may have to rely on family members for help. Stella has always had issues with connecting with family, but this baby could cause her to lean on extended family members for additional support. They could also potentially rely on the rest of the Firehouse for babysitting, though that would likely be a struggle for the rest of their team. No matter what Stella and Severide do, Chicago Fire season 14 could see them struggling with the different aspects of their lives.

Our Take On Stella And Severide’s Adoption

This Will Open Up Fun New Storylines

Stella and Severide get married Chicago Fire season 10

If Stella and Severide do receive a positive call from an adoption agency, which is not a guarantee, then it could be an opportunity for the show to explore more about their characters. Drama is as key to the show as fire is, so it means a chance for more screen time and more development for these stars. A baby can add years of storylines, as the baby would have the chance to grow up within Firehouse 51’s walls. As Chicago Fire looks to the future, Stella and Severide’s child will likely play a massive part in every upcoming episode.
